SUMMARY:THE JOY OF SPRING
DESCRIPTION:The April 12th program will present a special treat for you. Bob will conduct the first half of the concert\, and we are delighted to bring Dr. Robyn Bell\, as guest conductor\, to the podium following intermission.\nShe has been the conductor and artistic director of the Sarasota Pops Orchestra\, at Neal Auditorium\, since 2011. No doubt\, Bob will elaborate further on her professional career as a Professor of Music. It will also be a thrill for the band members to make music under her direction. I am sure many of you have attended some of her concerts held at Neil Auditorium. We are honored to have her join the Suncoast Concert Band as guest conductor.\nRobyn has selected compositions involving the Joy of Spring which is the theme for this concert. You will be uplifted with her exhilarating talent and infectious personality.\nAlong with many other selections\, Bob will conduct “The Two Little Bulfinches” featuring Michael Berndt and Patti Preves as the piccolo soloists.

DESCRIPTION:For our final concert of the 2026-27 Suncoast Concert Band season\, music director Bob Stoll has chosen to throw an early birthday party to our great nation! HAPPY 250 will be a musical salute to Americans past\, present and future. The program will include a host of patriotic themed marches including: NATIONAL EMBLEM\, EMBLEM OIF UNITY\, EMBLEM OF FREEDOM and of course the all-time favorite STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER. Larger featured selections include the audience favorite Joseph Wilcox Jenkins’ AMERICAN OVERTURE FOR BAND\, an arrangement of BIG BAND CLASSICS\, George Cohan’s STAR SPANGLED SPECTACULAR and PATRIOTIC FANTASY\, Irving Berlin’s montage SONGS FOR AMERICA and we end with the stunning Carmen Dragon arrangement of AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL.
